About Chris
I’m Christopher Wicks, Chartered Financial Planner at Peregrine & Black.
I am an independent, UK-regulated financial planner with over 40 years’ experience helping individuals and families make confident, well-informed financial decisions at important points in their lives.
My work is firmly planning-led. I believe good financial advice starts with understanding what really matters to you — your family, your lifestyle, your values and your long-term goals — before discussing products or investments. Many of my clients come to me not because they want to “beat the market”, but because they want clarity, reassurance and a trusted professional to help them navigate complexity.
About Lucy
I’m Lucy Wicks, a UK-regulated Financial Planner helping professionals build financial freedom
Having lived and worked abroad myself, I understand the complexities of moving home and provide advice that is both technically robust and genuinely empathetic.
I take a full-picture approach, creating clear, joined-up strategies aligned to your values—no noise, just thoughtful, disciplined advice you can feel confident in.
Who I Work With
For those who value clarity, continuity and a collaborative advising relationship
I advise a broad mix of UK-based and internationally connected clients, typically aged 45–75, including professionals, business owners and retirees. Most have accumulated significant wealth over time and are now focused on questions such as:
- Will my money last?
- Am I paying more tax than I need to?
- Can I retire (or stay retired) with confidence?
- How should I pass wealth to the next generation?
- Am I making the right decisions at a major life transition?
I also work with widows, bereaved families and clients going through divorce, business exits or retirement — situations that require a sensitive, calm and unpressured approach, not salesmanship.
What is my expertise
Holistic Advice for complex lives – onshore and returning home
Expat returnees are a genuine specialism of mine, but they sit alongside a substantial domestic client base. The common thread is complexity — not geography.
Areas of Specialism
While my advice is always holistic, I have particular expertise in:
- Retirement planning and sustainable income strategies
- Investment planning, with a strong focus on risk management and suitability
- Inheritance tax and estate planning, including inter-generational wealth planning
- Regulated pension transfer advice, where appropriate and in clients’ best interests
- Expat returnee planning, helping clients re-establish themselves in the UK after time overseas
Second Opinions and Trust-Based Advice
Many new clients start with my Second-Opinion Financial Planning Service.
This is designed for people who want reassurance or clarity rather than an immediate commitment. I review existing arrangements, identify strengths and weaknesses, and explain — in plain English — whether things are on track and what, if anything, could be improved.
There is no pressure to proceed further. In some cases, I confirm that a client’s current arrangements are perfectly appropriate; in others, I explain how I could help and allow clients to decide in their own time.

How I Work
From Discovery to Review – A calm, evidence-based way of making financial choices
Clients value my advice because it is:
- Independent and objective
- Clear, honest and jargon-free
- Focused on long-term outcomes rather than short-term noise
- Delivered as a long-term professional relationship, not a transaction
I am selective about who I work with and typically advise households with more complex needs. In return, clients receive a highly personal service and continuity of advice over many years — often across generations.
If you are looking for thoughtful, professional financial planning — particularly at a point of change — I would be very happy to have an initial conversation.
